Giants on the hill ...

Ask Clarence House to stop support of the rodeo ...

The Calgary Stampede begins a week on Thursday so we need you to email Clarence House to ask them to change William and Kate's itinerary so they don't attend the rodeo. During the Stampede animals are subjected to immense stress and cruelty in events such as ‘calf roping’, and we don't think the Royal couple should attend an event which has been banned in the UK for nearly 80 years.

Sunday walk ....

First stop Holcombe Hill and the Peel monument -a memorial to Sir Robert Peel, founder of the British police force and Prime Minister (1834-35).  This is how policemen came to be known as Peelers or Bobbies.

We could see the wind farm at Owd Betts so we drove across the valley and I trekked across the moor to take some pics.

Some people feel wind farms are a blot on the landscape but I think they're essential and really photogenic!

Bury Photography Club walk

Photo club walk this evening. Well, I say "walk" it was more like a sprint. We turned round to take some pics and everyone had disappeared so we had to trek from one farmhouse to another trying to find our way back to the pub. A pint of Becks has never tasted so good!

Always cherish .....

..... the sand between your toes, the wind in your hair and the salty taste of the sea on your lips

The vintage look

This photo was taken in 2008 along the Columbia River (Oregon/Washington) just past the Bridge of the Gods - I think near Cascade Locks.  I thought it would be a good pic to try a vintage effect - the tutorial can be found at Shadowhouse Creations blog,  Check out all the fabulous free textures whilst you're there!

10 seconds that will save the tiger…

I have just spent 10 seconds signing up to TigerTime, the worldwide movement set up by British artist and conservationist David Shepherd CBE to save the tiger in the wild.  Shockingly, there are only 3,500 tigers left in the wild.  If you share my view that losing the tiger is unthinkable, please spend 10 seconds yourself to help this wonderful initiative at www.tigertime.info .  All we need is your *sign up*.  When you have done that, please cut and paste this message into your email program and send it to all your contacts.  Every extra signature helps the fight to save the tiger in the wild.  If you use any facebook or twitter accounts please spread the word there too.
